Welcome to my very first blog post!
I will primarily be focusing on documenting the decisions, thought process and progress of the ‘Share the Load’ project, I also intend to sprinkle in some of my other iOS Developer journey stories and anything else that I find interesting!
In January 2021 Ben Sullivan and I were having a chat about ways he could help me to improve my skills, knowledge and portfolio as an iOS Developer.
The subject of one of my existing apps came up - LotR Quiz and we joked about some of the ways that I’d “creatively” managed to get around some of the problems I’d faced in 2018 when I was first putting it together (which included writing and reading JSON to the Files app on the iPhone 😂).
It was at that point Ben offered to support and mentor me to re-build the app from the ground up with some sort of architecture and cleaner code principles. As well as helping me gain some experience and understanding on how companies operate a development lifecycle.
We therefore decided to adhere to a formal code review process using Git flow and the use of a Trello board to manage our tasks - something I had not done before and will elaborate on in a future post.
We have also decided that the project will be featured regularly on the Fireside Swift podcast that we’re both a part of, to support my journey on becoming an iOS developer and to allow the community to follow the project as we go.
Episode by episode we will talk about specific topics that come up during the development process - so make sure you follow the project now and listen to the podcast!
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the blog. In the meantime, please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions for me whatsoever!
